Bronze Level – Start Sailing

This initial level is a 2 day course for budding sailors who have never sailed before, which includes an introduction to the sailing skills and knowledge needed to get safely afloat under supervision. After completing this course the successful participant will be able to sail a boat competently in all possible directions in light winds. It introduces safe launching and recovery methods.

Silver Level – Safe Sailing

This is a 2 day course expanding on the training developed in the Bronze Level and includes the knowledge required to sail a boat independently. The course covers rigging, launching and the skills needed to allow the successful candidate to be able to sail confidently in all directions. After completing this course the successful participant will have capsize recovery and essential safety knowledge and be capable of sailing without an instructor on board in light winds.

Gold Level – Independent Sailing

A 2 day course, which covers the more advanced skills and knowledge necessary to allow the successful participant to be capable of manoeuvring a dinghy in a seaman-like manner, to solve problems and handle a wide range of situations afloat in moderate conditions and to use a spinnaker. The emphasis is on increasing the self-reliance and decision making needed to sail independently, how to rig the boat, gybe and recover one type of spinnaker and to sail the best possible course downwind both as crew and helmsman.

Platinum Level – Perfected Sailing

This is a 2 day course focusing on navigation, club racing, and high-speed sailing. This level covers planning a day cruise, an introduction to the skills required to begin club racing, handling performance dinghies and maximum efficiency techniques for high-speed sailing.

6-day Bronze to Gold Dinghy Course

6 days or 3 Weekends. This content covers Bronze to Gold courses. After completion, students will be able to acquire the skills of rigging and sail controls for weather and sea states, coming alongside pontoons, returning to shore, and sailing more efficiently.

*To ensure success in achieving levels Silver, Gold and Platinum it is important to gain experience on the water the practise the skills students have learnt.  Contact Simpson Marine Sailing Academy to find out how to get on the water with our membership package or individual sailing sessions.

Marine Communications (VHF-SRC)

The Marine Communications course (Very High Frequency – Short Range Certificate) is designed to ensure a thorough understanding of maritime radio communication at sea. It is intended for all marine environments and follows International standards.

One of the main draws of sailing is the Yachting Freedom it creates by being able to explore deserted beaches and islands with friendly atmospheres, experiences that are only accessible by boat!  Simpson Sailing Academy staff are internationally endorsed instructors with a wealth of experience ready to share with you while sailing through the amazing coastline and islands Thailand has to offer.

Simpson Sailing Academy instructors have a wealth of experience in many types of sailing dinghies, keelboats, multihulls, yachts and powerboats.  If you want to brush up on a specific skill or learn a new skill with an instructor 1 to 1 we are ready to help you!

Through our membership program you can get out on the water and experience Yachting Freedom that sailing has to offer without buying a boat.  Members can enjoy discounted courses and use of the Simpson Sailing Academy sailing fleet.
